Australian Open Tennis
Girraphic developed virtual graphics and a rebranding for the Australian Open coverage to be place in the main Arenas in Melbourne Park, Hisense Arena, Margaret Court Arena and Rod Laver Arena.
The virtual graphics were driven with a Girraphic application by multiple virtual camera tracking solutions across all three main Arenas, giving statistic information before and during the match. This included weather, players statistics and match statistics to name a few. Girraphic also built in-match graphics and custom control software used on the additional 16 outside courts.

Around The Horn
ESPN’s Around the Horn is well-known for its lively, rapid-fire pace. In creating the new virtual set and augmented reality graphics package, Girraphic devised the “Virtual Window” concept designed to complement that style.
Girraphic incorporated the initial concept, iconography and opening animation into their real-time Depth Monitor build, Augmented build, Insert graphics build and customisable Touchscreen application to control it all. It was a total team effort funnelled through the creative
service department at ESPN.
Using multiple virtual depth monitors, the Virtual Window creates a virtual set with a major advantage – the host can see it, allowing them to react and adjust in real-time.
Girraphic also created a touch screen interface, allowing talent to control all AR activations and score-keeping, creating an unprecedented level of ease and flexibility. It’s augmented reality that never gets in the way and creating only enhancements, at the simple press of a button.

Tencent NBA
Early in 2016 Girraphic won a large tender process to facilitate the production of the NBA coverage for the Chinese broadcaster Tencent.
This project entailed the branding, design, build, data integration & programming of all graphic elements across the entire production. Girraphic programmers harnessed the NBA Stats feed and wrote a custom application to allow control from directly inside the VizRT Trio Interface for the main in-show online package. This allowed a single interface for operators to control both data driven and manual templates for the broadcast from a single interface.
From this custom interface the operators were able to control assets for all inshow elements including, Supers, FF’s, OTS, Custom Tickers and Ribbon Boards.

USA Election
Girraphic was commissioned by the team at MSNBC & NBC NEWS in New York City to create a truly unique experience for their viewers for the marquee event of the last decade: The Presidential Elections.
With the world watching as Donald Trump went up against Hillary Clinton, Girraphic designed and implemented augmented reality across the face of the iconic 30 Rock building and replaced the famous ice rink with a false surface. The result was a clean but visually playful way to display a variety of election data while capturing the atmosphere in Democracy Plaza.
When NBC News wanted striking visuals for its coverage of a historic night, Girraphic delivered.
Deploying innovative tech and creative, on the forefront of the industry, the iconic 30 Rock building and ice rink were seamlessly incorporated into the augmented reality graphics as up-to-minute information was seemingly “projected” on the side of the building and onto the ice rink – presenting a step forward for what AR could achieve.

Chevrolet Corvette Reveal
INVNT contacted GIRRAPHIC in 2018 to discuss a very special Augmented Reality project for their automotive client, General Motors. This would become both company’s AR debuts within a live production, purposed for their flagship vehicle, the 100% redesigned, next generation, Corvette C8 Stingray.
When INVNT’s Global Ops Director, Jerry Deeney, who has been producing automotive shows for 30 years, approached us with the idea, we knew we’d need the newest technologies available. The AR execution envisioned was the perfect usage case and integral at telling the story of their engineers. Providing the necessary foundation assets, 3DExcite delivered optimized 3D assets, converted from the original manufacturer’s files, without these none of this was possible.
Our client required pin-point tracking accuracy, on a car kept secret 24hrs a day, driven once onto a 360 revolving turntable, not by a professional driver, in front of the most enthusiastic yet scrutinizing live audience possible. No problem, we called onto our partners at stYpe and took full advantage of their new Follower system based on object tracking. Combining all of these elements with the creativity, knowledge and sheer determination of GIRRAPHIC – we knew we could pull off many “firsts” even by our standards. We are extremely proud to be part of this historic event and grateful for our new collaborating partners.

Girraphic also was responsible for supplying hardware at each venue to run the new graphics systems. The package includes a live data driven ticker, full frame stats pages as well a host of custom Trio built graphics.
Tencent Sports Rebranding

Girraphic rebranded the Tencent Sports Broadcast package in 2018. This included developing different sports areas such as NBA, Chinese basketball, E-Sports, FIBA, and soccer.
Combining the sport broadcast identities made each Tencent broadcast immediately identifiable regardless of the content type. This unification established a baseline for things like online promos and base graphic packages for each sport.
The package was based on the same visual style by defining a different color and a different icon for each section to visually unify the Tencent brand under a unique graphic style. We re-imagined Tencent Sports which brought the brand into a new level of complexity and fresh identity.

Fifa World Cup
One of the biggest companies in China, Tencent, contracted Girraphic to develop the 2018 FIFA World Cup package for their broadcast. This project covered a wide range of graphics and resources to support the broadcast from their headquarters in Beijing and from a virtual studio from Moscow.
We used the power of Augmented Reality graphics to go beyond the traditional presentation to present pre and post-match analysis. Girraphic built, textured and animated a virtual set which contained real-time data-driven augmented graphics, two virtual screens, and realistic stadiums. The camera was able to fly “inside” the virtual stadiums to show team line ups, game statistics and weather conditions. The virtual screens displayed viewer messages from the Chinese Social Media network WeChat, which helped drive the analysis throughout the broadcast. The physical studio in Beijing was also part of this project, requiring a re-skin to the multi-format set screens. The content in these screens mirrored that of virtual studio screens in Russia, this ensured continuity between the two studios.
